This week sees the opening of Stow Inspired, a new online store for Walthamstow and Waltham Forest, following its celebrated launch at the Walthamstow Garden Party in July.
The virtual store, which is the first of its kind for the area, brings together a collection from artists, artisans, creators and small businesses in and associated with Walthamstow and Waltham Forest that can be purchased online.
'We are so excited to finally open the doors of our online store.’ The founder and MD of Stow Inspired, Carole Morgan said. She went on to say:
‘I set up Stow Inspired because I was so impressed by the amazing talent and passion of artists, artisans and local businesses around me in the area and wanted to create a place to showcase and sell their work online. To extend the words of one of Walthamstow’s most iconic residents, William Morris, we believe that everyone should have an opportunity to choose things that they believe to be useful or beautiful, regardless of their background or income.
We have had a really positive response to the store from some celebrated artists and businesses in the area as well as those who want to buy locally produced goods online. We are pleased to present a range of products not just for people in the area to purchase but for those across the UK to purchase too.
Stow Inspired is a real door opener for local artists and small producers in the area who make amazing products but don’t necessarily have the budget or know-how to take them to market themselves. It will give them an opportunity to grow their collections, increase their income and to gain important commercial experience. We also hope the start-up and established small businesses in the area, including community organisations, and local service providers in time, will see Stow Inspired as a valuable platform for their products and services.’
Stuart Moore, a local celebrated photographer said, ‘I’m really pleased to be a seller on Stow Inspired and to extend my range of fine art photographic prints. It’s exciting to see Carole’s hard work come to fruition in this polished storefront for local artists to show and sell their work.’
Sara Hampson from La Maison de Furniture adds “We are really excited to showcase and sell our furniture on Stow Inspired. It's such a fantastic idea to bring together all the craftsmanship and artistry E17 has to offer, and we are proud to be part of the first group of sellers."
Stow Inspired, so far, has 23 sellers on board, just under 100 products listed and a stock inventory of almost 10,000 in its virtual store. These include:
Now everyone can choose their own useful and beautiful and support local business in the process.
Stow Inspired will be raising its profile in the area over the coming weeks, as part of a ‘buy local’ push in the lead up to Christmas. Visit the site and also look out for Stow Inspired on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
Sellers are welcomed from Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone, Highams Park and Chingford. Information for sellers can be found on the site.
